Trond Arne Undheim is the Director standards strategy and policy, EMEA for Oracle, based in London, UK. He delivers Oracle's message on the importance of open standards and makes sure it is understood in key European policy circles and in the industry. Trond recently published the book Leadership From Below (2008). He was previously a National Expert on eGovernment at the European Commission, where he led epractice.eu. Befora that, he was the Project Manager on software policy at the Norwegian Board of Technology, as well as a Visiting Fellow at UC Berkeley in California. Trond has co-founded several start-ups, including a think tank (LibLab), and his own consulting firm. He is a popular speaker at international events and publishes regularly on topics such as e-Government, knowledge management, Internet strategy, and social change. Trond obtained his Ph.D. (2002) in Technology Studies and Sociology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Trond is a manager, entrepreneur, speaker and academic who thrives in multi-sector environments. His experience from start-ups, consulting, think tanks and public sector span several continents. Trond is fluent in English, Italian, Norwegian, and French, and conversant in Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
