Dr. Veli Stroetmann has an M.D. from the Academy for Medical Sciences, Sofia/Bulgaria and a Ph.D. in Medical Informatics. She joined empirica in Bonn, Germany, in 1992, as a Senior Re-search Fellow. She has been project manager, principal investigator or senior researcher of European studies on policy strategies, market research and validation of eHealth applications.
She led a study for the European Commission (EC) on the impact of ICT on patient safety (eHealth for Safety), and contributed to a study on the economic impact of eHealth, including 10 case analyses (eHealth IMPACT). She coordinates a project for the EC to improve semantic interoperability among Member State health systems (Semantic Interoperability R&D Roadmap) and is involved in longer-term R&D projects: economic issues and business case development of patient data mining applications to improve clinical use of antibiotics (DebugIT) as well as of Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) with focus on osteoporosis (VPHOP).
