Born in 1974 in Lippstadt (Germany), Suso Baleato completes his academic background on Informatics and Computer Engineering with a degree in Political Science and Public Administration. Known to be the author of the first European blog, his interest in the social and political aspects of technology emerged while working in the ICT domain at both public and private sectors. Founder of distinct initiatives in the fields of Digital Literacy and Freedom of Speech, he developed an expertise in Intellectual Property Rights with focus on Software Patents and Open Source Software. His contribution to the field of Interoperability, Security and Open Knowledge has been recognised by the European Union and the United Nations. Suso is now based in Konstanz (Germany) where he prepares his PhD thesis on digital identities while he continues to foster a Civil Society perspective in the global ICT public policy making process as CSISAC's permanent delegate for the Information, Computer and Communication (ICCP) Committee at the OECD. He is Galician.
