This workshop will take place in Brussels, February 17th and is an initiative of the European Commission. It aims to encourage the sharing of good practice in the area of SOA.

Service Oriented Architecture is slowly being adopted by public administration. Such an architecture can facilitate interoperability between administration and change the delivery method. But this architecture could be pushed toward the extreme minimalism leading to the creation of a very modular architecture, creating new business opportunities.

Relevant topics to be discussed, but not limited to are:

  • Lessons learnt from the use of SOA in eGovernment: presentations regarding the adoption of SOA in the eGovernment context in the EU, Europe or the world; cost analysis, benefits, and final recommendations.
  • SOA and the lowest possible level of granulosity, towards a Service Object Oriented Architecture
  • SOA and as it relates to the eGovernment Action Plan 2015: presentations discussing the social, economic, etc. impact of the use of SOA in eGovernment with respect to the EU pillars (the common market, free movement, etc.) and the eGovernment pillars (which is especially interesting after the Malmö Ministerial Conference).
  • Extending the SOA paradigm in semantic interoperability in the eGovernment context: How the SOA paradigm can be used to encompass governance within an EU member state or among EU member states and foreign countries in a cross-border fashion. Hurdles already identified relate to the different semantic content of the same or similar terms in various domains.

Action research, case studies, research-in-progress, and pilot programs are welcomed approaches. Proposals for roundtable discussions, practitioner contributions, and product demonstrations based on the main themes are also invited.

Interested participants may register here.

Speakers are kindly invited to download and complete the form that can be found in the 'presentation and documents' section below and submit to the workshop organisers by February 9th at events@eurodyn.com.
