Submission Deadline: 05/30/2013
From 1 June 2011, Maltese Government tender documents will be available to purchase only through the website of the Department of Contracts, it was announced in April 2011.
To participate in the public procurement process and thus make use of this service, organisations must be registered. Registration is free and without any commitment, and even though it is subject to a verification process, accounts are usually activated within a day. Maltese organisations must obtain their electronic ID (e-ID) and subscribe to the Department of Contract's eServices through the Government of Malta's MyGov portal. Foreign organisations can continue registering on the Department of Contract's website.
The Department of Contracts, with the support of the Identity Management Office, is organising a dedicated briefing session in which holders of a Maltese identity card will be given an overview of the features of the websites of the Department of Contracts and MyGov. A dedicated e-ID registration session may also be organised.
Background Information:
The Department of Contracts is part of the Ministry for Finance, the Economy and Investment, and publishes calls for tenders estimated at over €120 000 excluding VAT on behalf of most Government ministries, departments and entities. The Department launched its new Procurement Management System and website in January 2009. It is aimed at all organisations which might be interested in the procurement activities of the Government of Malta, as well as the general public.
