The government of the Walloon Region and the government of the French-speaking Community of Belgium approved on 1 July 2010 the methodology for the implementation of the objectives of the Administrative Simplification and eGovernment Plan (2010-2014) and hence the whole set of related projects to be carried out by 2014.

The simplification and eGovernment projects will target various audiences in the region and the community, namely: citizens, businesses, local government, the voluntary sector and the public servants. Some of the main projects include:

  • For businesses - simplification of the procedure for the request of a unique environmental permit;
  • For citizens - harmonisation and simplification of the housing and energy allowances:
  • For Local Government - implementation of local administrative simplification and eGovernment policies;
  • eParticipation - launch in September 2010 of a roundtable involving the business sector around the theme 'Walloon companies: how to simplify procedures and to improve competitiveness', and launch of an eParticipative discussion open to all. The outcomes will be analysed and translated into concrete enhancements in the course of the first trimester of 2011.

Background information

In February 2010, the two governments had jointly initiated the wide ranging simplification plan - also known as 'Together, let's simplify' - for the 2010-2014 period. This plan consists of six objectives that are to be achieved by 2014. A simplification chain is associated to each objective:

  • To simplify and improve regulations;
  • To simplify and harmonise procedures;
  • To dematerialise procedures;
  • To manage administrative documents by electronic means;
  • To simplify and dematerialise data collection and sharing;
  • To improve the information and the communication intended for the users of public services.
