The final draft of the Semantic Interoperability Centre Europe (SEMIC.EU) Core Person model was released on 27 July 2010 and will soon enter the community's maturity process. More than 100 co-authors and reviewers contributed to the drafting process of the document, which can now be found as an asset in the SEMIC.EU repository.
The next step for the new pan-European interoperability asset is its scrutiny for practicality in the SEMIC.EU Clearing Process. A request for maturity has been submitted and thus the asset will now be assessed by the Clearing Manager resulting in a published Asset Assessment Report. Following the subsequent community review, maturity is expected to be granted by the end of August 2010.
The aim of the Clearing Process for the SEMIC.EU Core Person model is to gain the first conformant pan-European interoperability asset. Therefore, business cases - both existing implementations of person data models and potential new ones - are required by the rules of the Clearing Process. This involves implementation scenarios as well as test data (values) to validate the practicality of the data model.
Thus as from now, SEMIC.EU users are called on to submit their cases and data.
The mappings of existing person data implementations to the Core Person will be supported by the SEMIC.EU team.
