On 14 April 2010, the Greek Lab Tests Online - a non-commercial multilingual information portal on laboratory testing - was officially launched at a press conference organised by the Greek Association of Science and Health Providers, the Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry and the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA).

This 'Health On the Net (HON)' certified portal works essentially as an electronic information source about medical examinations and their effects on patients' health. It includes information about key clinical tests, the relevant clinical conditions, similar diseases as well as preventive screening programmes for various types of users and ages.

The portal has been designed for the patient and the carers in order to better understand the plethora of clinical laboratory tests that are used for diagnosis and treatment. The patients can learn free-of-charge, with just a few clicks, what the laboratory results mean and the effect they can have on their health.

Already operating in 12 countries and 3 continents, the Lab Tests Online portal receives approximately 2.4 million visits per month. It is thus considered as one of the world's biggest portals when it comes to the interpretation of laboratory tests results.

All information provided at the Lab Tests Online websites around the world is scientifically tested. In Greece, the quality of the information has been ensured with the cooperation of three professional and scientific organisations representing every aspect of laboratory field; namely the EDMA, which is responsible at a pan-European level and two Greek ones, namely: the Greek Association of Science and Health Providers (EDMA's national association member), which has assumed management responsibility in Greece and the Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry, which is the authorised scientific body responsible for the translation of the texts as well as their scientific integrity.
