The CROSSROAD project is calling on those interested to join their efforts to build a research Roadmap in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Governance and Policy Modelling.
Funded by the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission, the main goal of the CROSSROAD project is to drive the identification of emerging technologies, new governance models and novel application scenarios in the area of participation, electronic governance and policy modelling.
The project is launching a public invitation for all interested parties to join the open collaborative efforts and consultation by:
After the fruitful Workshop on 'State of Play and Visionary Scenarios Design Validation' that took place in Seville, on 29-30 April 2010, the next opportunity for personal participation in the validation and consultation process will be in 6-8 July 2010, during the Samos Summit on 'ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling'.
The project approach is to identify and characterize the key research challenges appearing in the field of ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling in Europe and around the world in 2020 and beyond.
A review of the current State-of-the-Art (Deliverable 1.2) provides a detailed and clearly structured overview of the existing ICT used for Governance and Policy modelling. Visionary Scenarios Design (Deliverable 2.1) in ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling have been developed that show greater complexity and citizens' involvement in order to achieve the target of the better, participative, evidence-based and timely governance.
Subsequently, a gap analysis will assess the differences between today and possible future scenarios in the field of ICT for Governance and Policy modelling. On this basis, a detailed research roadmap for the transformation process will be developed. The process of the road mapping will be supported by online consultations, available on the project website www.crossroad-eu.net.
The project consortium consists of 5 partners who bring together the innovative know-how of research institutions and the administrative experience of specialised consulting firms, namely: the National Technical University of Athens (Greece), a UK-based research and consultancy company, the European Projects & Management Agency (Czech Republic), the Koblenz-Landau University (Germany), the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) as one of the 7 scientific institutes of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) located in Spain.
