On 13 May 2010 the government of the Autonomous Province of Trento (Northeast Italy) awarded €15 000 to the municipality of Luserna/Lusérn for the implementation of a project entitled "Web portal of the Cimbrian Community of Luserna/Lusérn".
The government deemed the project eligible for funding, based on the provincial law on the rules for the protection and the promotion of linguistic minorities at local level (law no. 6 of 19 June 2008).
The project seeks to gather and streamline web services for all the institutional actors of the Cimbrian Community of the municipality of Luserna/Lusérn ('Kamou vo Lusérn', 'Kulturinstitut Lusérn' and 'Dokumentationszentrum Lusérn') in a way to create a modern and updated tool that can make the municipality interact with the outside world.
The project consists of the creation of a new and unique web access point to the Cimbrian community for all those interested. The portal will be easy to update and structured in such a way to increase the value of a wide range of documents, including: pictures; historical documents; texts in Cimbrian; Cimbrian lessons; read out excerpts of Cimbrian literature; cartography; databases; virtual visits; press review; the webpage 'Di sait vo Lusérn' with written text and audio content; the archives of the television news programme 'Zimbar Earde'; TV services; movies and documentaries (including self-produced) dubbed in Cimbrian; a newsletter; live broadcast of events; etc.
The initiative is particularly significant, in that it aims to create an agile tool which serves the Cimbrian population and provides appropriate information on the activities occurring in the municipality and the community, in a coordinated and synergistic manner. The information will be often available in Cimbrian while some sections will be multilingual (Cimbrian, English, German and Italian). Â
