The new website of the BLAST project (Bringing Land and Sea Together) has been launched.
BLAST is a regional project funded by the European Union in the frame of the IVB North Sea Region Programme. The project brings together 16 partners from 6 countries represented by governmental organisations, universities and private companies aiming at integrating and harmonizing land and sea data. The project started in 2009 and will be completed in 2012.
At the present phase, North Sea nations manage geographic data independently and this dispersion does not allow a correct overview of the information available. The overall aim of the project is to improve Integrated Coastal Zone Management and Planning (ICZM&P) and maritime safety in a broad sense, by improving and contributing to harmonising terrestrial and sea geographical data and by developing planning and visualisation tools as well as improvement of navigation, in the context of climate change.
The BLAST portal has been created as the project’s main information reference point and it will present news, developments and results reached during the project period.
