The European Commission launched on 23 February 2010 a public consultation on the implementation of the European Interoperability Strategy (EIS) for European Public Services. The aim is to collect substantial feedback on how to implement the agreed strategy.

During 2009, the European Commission has worked on the elaboration of the European Interoperability Strategy for European Public Services. It did so in close cooperation with the concerned Commission services and the Members States, as well as with the Candidate Countries and EEA (European Economic Area) Countries as observers.

The main objectives of the European Interoperability Strategy for European Public Services are:

  • To identify commonalities and areas of shared interest at Member State and EU level;
  • To establish consensus around a strategic action plan for interoperability, to be implemented in the coming years by both the Member States and the Commission.

The consultation may be found online. It will be open until 6 April 2010. All citizens, organisations and public authorities are welcome to contribute.

Background information:

An EIS Info Day was organised on 1 December 2009 aiming at presenting and informing the participants on the EIS outline as well as the methodologies and the approach used during the elaboration process of the EIS.
