On 21 October 2009, the Walloon Region, represented by its eAdministration and Simplification Unit, the Commissariat EASI-WAL, received the Bronze Award for 'marchespublics.wallonie.be', the public procurement portal it shares with the French-speaking Community.Â
The Public Tender Awards 2009 were awarded during the annual event dedicated to public procurement in Belgium, the "National Tender Day".
The purpose of this event is to draw attention to the constructive efforts made by the public authorities to optimise the integrity and effectiveness of their procurement procedures.
The National Tender Day is primarily an exchange and meeting place for experts and practitioners from the public and private sectors alike to update their knowledge and explore the new possibilities offered by the public procurement rules. The National Tender Day ends each year with the awards ceremony.

The National Tender Day and Public Tender Awards are organised under the initiative of a company specialised into assisting both private companies and government in procurement processes.
The Public Tender Awards competition is open to any institution, government and company subject to the Belgian regulations on public procurement. Â
