At the beginning of May 2009 all Social Security Institute's (IKA) branches gained 'visibility' on the National Network, SYZEFXIS, aiming to the safe and rapid use of many electronic applications offered by the two networks.

IKAnet (www.ika.gr) is the Institute's functional network and serves 393 points throughout Greece. All of the Institute's branhes are now being connected to this network; as for the remaining service points of the Institute, they are also being connected to the Central IKA Services, providing a high level of security and reduced telecommunications cost.

With the new connection, the Social Security Institute and its branches:

  • Are connected to s-TESTA (Secure Trans European Services for Telematics between Administrations) network and all the corresponding European databases.
  • Are connected  to SYZEFXIS' VPN-1 and  Citizen Service Centers' (KEP) network in order to ensure the provision of the Institute's electronic services to all KEPs throughout Greece.
  • Are connected to the Ministry of Employment and Social Protection and the General Secretariat of Social Security
  • Are able to use additional telemetric, voice, data and image services of the National Network
