jeparticipe.be  is the new  portal-forum that supports, informs and encourages local initiatives in the French-speaking regions of Belgium.

Placed online, on 16 April 2009, this portal is the outcome of a long process, started in 2003, on the perspectives of eDemocracy. It is based on citizens' active participation in public life appears as a key stage on citizens' participation developments.

The projects are growing in number, the phenomenon is indeed in full expansion; an isolation of actors and a lack of information on similar initiatives have however been observed. The lack of concentration of all relative resources was slowing down citizens' involvement and their active participation in community life.

This portal on "active citizenship", www.jeparticipe.be, is an attempt to fill in this "gap".

The objectives of this site are the following:

  • INFORM: Provide the public with complete information on the various ways of participation in community life and the relevant initiatives undertaken in the French speaking Belgian regions;
  • ACT: propose a site where all interested parties can find all the information needed in order to launch their own local project and introduce a successful initiative;
  • SHARE: share the positive citizenship initiatives and encourage exchanges of experiences.

The site aims to eventually set up (in one or two years) a local and active citizenship "window-display" for the public.
