The Slovak Republic's Ministry of the Interior is to modify the government information system with help from Siemens IT Solutions and Services, at a cost of more than SK332 million (around €10 million).

These modifications will ensure an integrated solution for dealing with requests, managing data and issuing documents. The tender was awarded to the contractor offering the lowest price.

The modifications include changes to the system for issuing residence permits. Siemens will also provide software licences for ministry departments in Bratislava, the computing centre in Banska Bystrica, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Public Procurement Bulletin, this project is governed by a Deed on Government Procurement. Negotiations were conducted in private to protect the rights of the companies tendering. The Ministry of Interior's contract with the supplier came into force on 15 June.
