More than 70 delegates to the Government Computing conference held in Brussels on the 30-31st October, heard about the work of IDA and in particular details of its role in helping to co-ordinate and promote the use of information technology in public administrations.

Mr Paul E. Murphy, deputising for IDA Head of Unit, Ms Manuela Finetti, told the audience of public administrators and representatives of business suppliers to government, about IDA's mission, and referred to several particular aspects of the Unit's work, including: development of the EU's Public Health Information Network; PROCIV-NET, which has been developed to co-ordinate responses to natural and technological disasters; and SOLVIT - an online dispute resolution solution for EU citizens and enterprises http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/solvit

Mr Murphy went on to talk about the Online Consultation, seeking views on current and desired eservices,  which was published on this site earlier in the year and which was debated during last month's IDA conference. The full report is available .

Finally, the conference heard about the new Public Services portal (the so-called 'Mobility Portal') http://europa.eu/public-services, which IDA is assisting to build and develop, to improve access for citizens and enterprises, seeking information about entitlements, information services, and a wide range of eservices from Member States.
