Launch of public-service.eu - information on cross-border public services in Europe
Opening the IDA conference 'Pan-European eGovernment Services for Citizens & Enterprises: The Role of IDA' in Brussels yesterday (Thursday), Mr Pedro Ortún-Silván, Director of DG Enterprise's Directorate D: Services, Commerce, Tourism, eBusiness & IDA, announced the launch of http://europa.eu/public-services, the EU's new public-service web site.
The portal aims to eventually offer a one-stop service where enterprises and citizens can log in and look up all they need to know about government regulations concerning subjects such as setting up a business in a Member State, changing jobs, health and education regulations, benefit rules etc. The web site will include information on rights of residency, recognition of professional qualifications, social security regulations, access to State health services, accommodation regulations, VAT registration rules, business incorporation law etc.
The site's content will build to be a complete reference and information point for cross-border public services in Europe.
