From October 2006 onwards, information on proceedings in the Slovakian criminal courts will be made available on-line through the website of the Ministry of Justice.
The Slovakian Ministry of Justice has made information on criminal court proceedings more accessible by providing a range of information (date, time, location, names of the judges, etc.) on the Ministry of Justice website. The information available will cover proceedings in the Criminal County court and District Court.
The Ministry of Justice spokesman, Michal Jurci, commented that the Ministry is publishing this information to increase awareness of criminal affairs and proceedings by the general public and relevant media. The new service should also help to improve transparency.
Further expansion of the service is expected over the coming year. The task of publishing court decisions and other information has been allocated to administrative staff and does not place any extra burden on legal personnel.
