Complete title:
Alliance of the Italian Hospitals Worldwide - Teleconsultation Service Manual - version 1.8
Alleanza degli Ospedali Italiani nel Mondo - Manuale del Servizio di Teleconsulto - verzione 1.8

Description (short summary):
This document contains a technical description of the teleconsultation service of the IPOCM Project ('Integrazione e Promozione degli Ospedali e dei Centri sanitari italiani nel Mondo' in Italian) for the Integration and Promotion of Italian hospitals and Health Centres, as well as the installation manual and the user guide of the email software application for the implementation of the service.

The asynchronous functonalities of the teleconsultation service, as described in the requirements of the Feasibility Study for an IPOCM data communication network and then specified in the executive project of the Secretariat for Technical Assistance of the Alliance of the Italian Hospitals Worldwide (hereafter "the Secretariat"), allows email exchange for:

  • The sending of a teleconsultation request by a doctor of an Italian hospital worldwide;
  • The reception of the reply of the competent specialist of another Italian healthcare institution, through the Secretariat's management centre.

The IPOCM medical teleconsultation service gives doctors located in remote hospitals of 25 different countries in the world the chance to study a clinical case through the analysis of an increased amount of information and the use, where necessary, of personal video-conferencing, which is useful to complement the clinical case with opinion exchange, based upon the know-how of the particular specialist.
