Description (short summary):
The document sets out for public consultation the proposals made by the Prime Minister on 17 November 2009 aiming to make available certain Ordnance Survey datasets for free and without any restrictions on their re-use. It does this, in the context of the broad long-term strategic options for Ordnance Survey. The purpose of the consultation is to receive feedback on these proposals. A list of specific consultation questions can be found in Annex A. Instructions on how to respond to the consultation are also included in the document.
The Government will take into account the responses that will be received; the decisions taken in the light of this consultation along with a summary of responses and a full, final stage Impact Assessment will be published on the Communities and Local Government (CLG) website. The closing date for responses is 17 March 2010.
