Description (short summary):
Launched in September 2000, the BundOnline 2005 eGovernment initiative mandates the federal administration to provide online all its services that can be delivered electronically by 2005. In December 2001 the Federal Government published an implementation plan that identified 376 federal services for citizens, businesses and administrations to be provided online by 2005. The BundOnline portfolio then rose to 403 services in 2002, 449 services in 2003, and 480 services at the end of 2004, of which 338 were already available online and 142 were planned for implementation in 2005. According to the 2004 Implementation Plan, the number of services available online will surpass the 376 originally planned, as the provision of federal services is continually updated and expanded. In addition to putting new services online, the quality of the existing offering is improved as the services portfolio is constantly re-examined, developed further and updated in order to meet the changing demands of politics and society.
