Privacy Statement

1. The specific electronic Service: epractice.eu

The e-service is jointly operated by the Directorate General for Informatics (DG DIGIT) and the Directorate General for Information Society and Media (DG INFSO) of the European Commission. The objective is to provide eGovernment, eHealth and eInclusion professionals in Europe with a set of services, promoting the sharing of information and of good practices. Upon registration, your personal data will be collected and processed. DG INFSO is the Controller of the e-service while the Contractors are in charge of the management and the maintenance of the portal.

As this e-Service collects and further processes personal data, Regulation (EC) 45/2001 of the European Parliament and the Council of 18 December 2000, on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, is applicable.

2. What personal information do we collect, for what purpose and through which technical means?

The following personal data are collected: name and surname, e-mail address, postal address, country, areas of interest and organisation details.

3. Who has access to your personal information and to whom is it disclosed?

Personal information is available to the epractice.eu team on behalf of the DG for Informatics (IDABC programme) and the DG for Information Society and Media. No personal data will be published without your permission.

4. What is the legal basis for this e-service?

This e-service is developed with funds from several sources, the eTEN programme, the former IDABC programme, as well as the eHealth Action Plan and eInclusion activities of the European Commission. 

The European Commission will not share data with third parties for direct marketing.

5. How do we protect and safeguard your information?

All the information is recorded in a database hosted by the authorised organisation or at the Data Centre of the European Commission. The database can be accessed only by authorised users using a User Id/Password. Access to the application is performed via a non-encrypted connection using the normal http protocol. Registered members may choose the preferred privacy level of their own profile granting access to logged in members and/or to the general public.

6. How can you verify, modify or delete your information?

You can modify/delete your personal profile with your User Id/Password or by contacting the eGovernment practice team using the 'Contact us' form online.

7. How long do we keep your data?

Your personal data will remain in the database until the end of the project, unless you decide to delete your profile prior to this.

In case of complaints you may consult the website of the European Data Protection Supervisor.
