Yorkshire and the eUnion: Responding to the Malmö Ministerial Declaration
The current event will take place in response to the new Ministerial Declaration signed in Malmö in November 2009. The event is a follow up to the successful one held at Magna last year, 'Raising the Game'.
Ministers responsible for eGovernment issues in the EU Member States, candidate countries and the EFTA countries, all together representing 34 countries, approved on 18 November 2009 in Malmö the new Ministerial Declaration on eGovernment up until 2015. The declaration contains a common vision and priorities regarding the way the 34 countries intend to use eGovernment in order to support citizens, companies and the mobility on the internal market; aiming to render possible effective and environmentally friendly public administration in Europe. The purpose of the declaration is to make eGovernment open the door to public administration and build bridges between people and their respective governments in a new and innovative way.
Long-term and shared efforts are required from all Member States in order to achieve this. The implementation process will therefore be led jointly by the Member States in close collaboration with the European Commission. The Commission is invited to coordinate the Member States' activities and organise the management of the implementation through a special steering group that will meet regularly to propose adjustments to the priorities.
Registration to the event is free and can be performed online. The agenda can be found here.
