Description

Conference on Migration, the media and the message: Migrants using media to turn around the immigration debate

This conference is an opportunity for groups involved in media and cultural activities that promote a positive engagement with the issue of migration to showcase their work and to join in discussion about the value of these activities. Their value will be assessed both intrinsically as creative work and as a contribution to process aimed at bringing about change in public perceptions and policy.

The conference will offer space to selected projects to present aspects of their work to participants and to discuss the ideas behind it and what they are aiming to achieve.

Breakout workshops will include presentations and discussion of the work of:

  • The Forum on Migration and Communications (FOMACS): Ireland's digital video-making and radio-journalism.
  • The Association for the development of the migration (CEPAIM): Spain's 'La Ruta Prometida' exhibition.
  • The Hungarian Network of Organizations Dealing with Migrants (Menedek) poster campaign.
  • The Migrant Resource Centre: UK's 'New Londoners' journalism project.
  • The 'Playback Theatre' in the UK.
  • The Greek CRWI on women and the media.

Further details about the conference can be found on its brochure.

Registration is free-of-charge and can be performed online by filling in the respective form that can be found here.
