G2010 Open Technology Conference - Live from London
The G2010 Open Technology Conference will bring together parliamentarians, civil servants, technologists, bloggers and researchers from across Europe to discuss and debate on how open data and open data-based applications are changing the way in which Governments across the world are delivering next generation services to their citizens.Â
Government 2010 (G2010) was launched in October 2009 in London with a live web broadcast event involving the great and the good in Government computing. The event was watched live online by over 1 200 online delegates.
The April 2010 event focuses on what's happening in terms of open data and open data-based applications. During the last event, applications' developers made clear that opening up Ordnance Survey mapping data was critical. The Ordnance Survey will be taking part in the event to describe the results of a consultation effort on the very issue. The Hansard Society will also be offering its perspective - and representatives of the Transformational Government team will be talking about 'data.gov.uk' and the applications that are beginning to emerge.
The conference will also look at technologies that might drive future applications and address open source software and how it might fit into the wider transformational agenda.
Provocative discussions, arguments and presentations will take place.
The event is open to all but live attendance requires priori registration and the payment of a fee. The number of seats is limited. Interested parties can also sign-up to watch the event online, free-of-charge.
A preliminary agenda of the event will be available in the near future.
