'How to integrate product data standards into SME operations' Seminar

The European Committee for Standardization CEN eSMEs focus group is a European project with the main task to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)in integrating eBusiness into their daily business. One of its activities is to design tutorials.

The highlight of the 'How to integrate product data standards into SME operations' seminar is the presentation on eBusiness standards, regarding the benefits of using them and on the special focus given to standards and electronic catalogues. This presentation will be complemented by an introduction to product classification systems and the example of the process industries' project on industrial data. The Prozeus project and its activity towards SMEs will also be presented.

The preliminary agenda of the event is the following:

  • 14:00 Welcome (Marc Cumps, Agoria, and Jan Goossenaerts, CEN ESME focusgroup).
  • 14:15 How eBusiness standards help SMEs : the experience in Germany of the PROZEUS project (Ralf Wiegand, PROZEUS - Prozesse und Standards).
  • 14:30 eBusiness standards - what advantages bring they for your company? Building uponeBusiness standards and their use in electronic catalogues (Jens Bröking, Semaino Technologies).
  • 15:15 Break.
  • 15:30 What are the main product classification systems used for procurement? A brief overview (Aurélie Virgili, consultant).
  • 16:00 Orchestrating Industrial Data: the process industries' ORCHID road map (Wolfgang Wilkes, University of Hagen).
  • 16:30 Questions and Answers.
  • 17:00 Closure.

The seminar will take place in English. Participation is free of charge and registration can be performed online within 24 March 2010.
