Description

Second international Open Government Data Conference (IOGDC)

IOGDC will gather policymakers, developers, and others with a keen interest in open government data to share lessons learned, stimulate new ideas, and demonstrate the power of democratising data.

The three-day event will bring together international experts on open government data. From policy to technology, IOGDC will be filled with discussion around the historic opportunity presented by open government data to foster collaboration, transparency, and interactive public participation.

There is no cost to attend, but preregistration is required; it is to be performed online.

The organisers' suggested framing questions for paper submissions include:

  • What is the story of open government data over the last two years and how are we seeing the data put to work?
  • How do we avoid the trap of focusing just on compliance rather than the potential of Open Data?
  • Managing data assets – how to manage your government data assets with the same rigor and consideration as any piece of public infrastructure?
  • At a time of fiscal austerity, why should we be investing in public data infrastructure?
  • What data standards are most useful and practical?
  • How do we handle the intersection of Big Data and Open Data?
  • Open Development and Open Government: is this a social and economic opportunity?

The call for papers is open until 11 May 2012.
