Description

HUWY, Young people's experience and advice on Internet Policies

The HUWY project is an EU-sponsored eParticipation project, aiming to gather input from young people and channel IT to policy-makers, at a national and European  level. The focus of the project are policies and laws which affect the Internet, e.g. cyberbullying, child abuse and child safety, freedom of speech and censorship, privacy and phishing, security, identity, hacking, e-commerce, file-sharing and copyright.

The morning of the launch will include short presentations from HUWY partners, policy-makers (including Hille Hinsberg from the Estonian State Chancellery) and youth groups (including Young Scot and Jugendpresse Deutschland).

In the afternoon, two workshops will take place:

  • Youth Work Ireland will provide young people's perspective: Young people, the Internet and HUWY;
  • A Workshop organised by UK's Ministry of Justice will provide a policy-maker's perspective: Making a difference - how to translate engagement into change.

A draft agenda of the event is available here.

Registration to the event is free and can be performed via the e-Science Institute website.
