Description

LinuxDays 2009

LinuxDays 2009 provides an environment to foster collaboration through knowledge sharing, facilitated discussions with real deliverables and opportunities to network with others that have either «been there and done it», are in the process of planning, developing and implementing, or are providing technology and professional services to help organizations leverage from open source assets.

This year, there will be 4 tracks, with the following themes:

  • Public Administrations (June 4th-5th): The track is dedicated to public sector initiatives in the field of open source software. On one hand this is because in Europe this sector is often the engine in the broad acceptance and understanding of open source software, and on the other because the State of Geneva has for several years expressed its willingness to move in this direction. The following themes have been selected to exchange and gather leads this year: Change Management,Forges and communities, Legal aspects and public.
  • Education (June 3rd): Private, public, primary, secondary and higher education areas use open source. Thus, developing open source applications and implementing technology will improve the way children are being educated to be able to grow within a fast changing environment. Open Source in education is also critical to helping the developing world break down the technology divide.
  • Open for Business (June 3rd - 5th): The track is for commercial enterprises of all sizes, not-for-profit international bodies and Non Governmental Organisations who want to see what others have done and what technological possibilities there are to help organisations meet their tactical needs and strategic objectives.
  • Grid solutions (June 5th): The track is designed to illustrate how IT strategists from a broad spectrum of businesses and public administration can gain greater advantage through the adoption of grid computing with insight from developers and experts from the grid arena.

The event is open and free. Registration can be performed online. Further information regarding the program of the conference is available here.
