Description

HC2010 Health Informatics Congress - Conference and Exhibition

The HC2010 Health Informatics Congress consists of a conference and an exhibition.  The conference theme is 'Achieving Quality, Innovation & Productivity: meeting the challenges with health informatics'. This edition's novelties include:

  • A Career/Professionalism Zone: this will provide an opportunity for delegates to look at career paths, and talk to senior staff and other experts about possible opportunities for them. The organisers are especially encouraging students to talk to Universities, eSkills and others about options for starting and pursing a career in health informatics.
  • A National Health System (NHS) Zone: where NHS organisations (mainly informatics services) will demonstrate things they are doing to further the cause of health informatics in the UK.
  • A Leadership Master Class: Professor Michael West will hold a master-class at the end of the second day. It will be of relevance to anyone interested in how to create a better work environment both for fulfilling the mission of their organisation but also for ensuring the flourishing, well being and development of staff.
  • A National Strategic Health Authorities (SHA) Chief Information Officers (CIOs) Forum: most of the national SHA CIOs will take part in an open forum at the end of the event to discuss and debate key themes from the event and take questions from the audience.

The Regional Showcase will continue this year, with examples of best practice being demonstrated from the Midlands areas.

The featured presentations will consist of, among others:

  • A group of NHS Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) discussing how they plan to deal with the challenges of future years through effective use of information systems (stream one, day one);
  • An update on Research and Development in the field (stream three, day one);
  • The impact of ICT on Society (stream four, day one);
  • Clinical Showcases: clinical leaders and examples of best practice to support clinical practice demonstrated by experts from across the UK (streams on both days two and three);
  • National and international consideration of how to provide safe, secure and effective records (stream 3 on day three).

Registration to the conference is to be performed online and requires the payment of a fee.

The HC2010 Exhibition is designed for commercial organisations to meet key health informaticians and clinicians who make choices and procurement decisions.
