The 'social model' is one that assumes that the development of AT is something that has to be driven by the goal of achieving an inclusive society - and so there are moral, financial, business and scientific issues to understand and manage.

The following topics will be discussed during the workshop:

  • Contrasting commercial and social models of AT-tt
  • Open development/Innovation
  • Technological development and issues
  • Taking account of service delivery issues
  • Evidence of effectiveness or market
  • Commercialisation approaches and issues
  • How AT information helps technology transfer
  • Reaching the AT customer
  • Financing
  • The role of Patient & Public Involvement
  • Social and ethical implications
  • Models of AT-tt and innovation
