5th Digital Literacy Week - 'Everyone on the Internet'
The key players of this one-week event are the schools participating in the digital literacy programme for the seniors over 60s. This programme is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale together with the 50 elderly centres in Rome that participate in the Telemouse project implemented in collaboration with an Italian telecommunications company.
Senior web surfers, tutoring students and coordinating teachers encourage all citizens to go back to their neighbourhood schools to learn computer basic skills, write a letter, send an email, chat or speak on the phone via the web and use the eGovernment services of the public authorities. The citizens over 60s can also attend mini computer courses at the Internet corners equipped in the elderly centres in Rome.
The event will take place in video conference with the city of IaÅŸi in Romania. The first 30 Romanian senior citizens will describe their experiences of the computer and eGovernment as well as the networking courses they follow, as part of the 'Stimulating ICT Learning for Active EU Elders (Silver)' project under the European Union's Lifelong Learning Programme.
