10th annual IHE-Europe Connectathon

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) International is an organisation that enables users and developers of information technology for healthcare to achieve interoperability of systems through the precise definition of healthcare tasks, the specification of standards-based communication between systems required to support those tasks and the testing of systems to determine that they conform to the specifications. The work is managed by IHE committees and sponsored by various national and international bodies. 

IHE accelerates the adoption of electronic health records (EHR) by improving the exchange of information among healthcare systems. Its goal is to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of clinical care by making relevant health information conveniently accessible to patients and authorized care providers.

IHE has been testing the interoperability of healthcare information technology (HIT) systems for more than a decade. At the IHE Connectathons which are held regularly in several locations internationally, trained technical experts supervise testing of vendor systems, making use of advanced testing software developed by IHE and several partner organisations.  

The 10th European Connectathon is an intensive five-day marathon for testing the connectivity and interoperability of applications for health information systems, with more than 300 information technology (IT) engineers from 90 companies expected to participate this year. 

In parallel with the testing activities, the Connectathon 2010 will offer two full-day conference programmes. The first conference programme will cover advances in interoperability from high-level presentations of developments in European national programmes to detailed case studies of regional and hospital projects. For the second conference (in French language), IHE-France and Interop'Santé will organise a full-day programme aimed at promoting further adoption of IHE profiles and frameworks in France with hands-on demonstrations and how-to workshops. Registration is now open and can be performed online. The event is open to all. Registration requires the payment of a fee.
