Get Online Day 2010
This one-day event will celebrate the European eSkills Week 2010 through a pan-European initiative focused on bringing people online in all European countries. The initiative called Get Online Day will be implemented with the assistance of national partners through telecentres.
The eSkills Week campaign aims to raise awareness of the growing demand of highly skilled ICT practitioners and users within the industry. Telecentre-Europe is already a stakeholder in the eSkills Week Campaign, coordinated by DIGITALEUROPEÂ and European Schoolnet.
The main aims of the Get Online Day 2010 are:
The event targets mainly the offline Europeans, people that have never used internet and are consequently not aware of its benefits. Depending on cultures and level of economic and social development, this target can be indentified more or less in all European communities.
During the event, the members of Telecentre-Europe are called to take action and demonstrate the impact of digital inclusion throughout Europe. The one-day event will be an opportunity for telecentres across Europe to demonstrate tangible impact and results in their communities. At national level, the national partners will be able to confirm the strength of a network of telecentres in the field of digital inclusion. Telecentre-Europe will bring added-value to its members. The success of this initiative could boost the force of Telecentre-Europe at the European level and significantly increase the trust of members and stakeholders in the network's existence. Few thousands of digitally excluded people in more than 20 European nations could be reached in just one day through this effort.
Registration to the event is free and can be performed online. The list of national partners may be viewed here.
