Description

eHealth Brandenburg 2010 - 'Telemedicine and Communication'

The core of eHealth and telemedicine is communication; it is both the exchange of information between citizens/patients and doctors on the one hand and on the other, the communication among all the partners in the health care sector, from hospitals to health insurance companies and to the IT specialists. The conference will focus on the specifics of this communication, its potential and challenges.

Experts mainly from the Brandenburg region and the Federal territory, as well as from other European countries are expected to attend the event in order to discuss about the following topics in the domain of eHealth that require further study:

  • Transparency and self-determination: Health care should be transparent to all users, while taking into consideration at the same time the protection of personal information. Modelling and optimisation of the processes involved can significantly help to achieve these goals.
  • Citizens and patients: Telemedicine is increasingly popular, not only among patients and the patients' helpers but also among healthy people who can benefit from it. Tele-monitoring, self-initiative, self-determination and a careful selection of medical and pension benefits are important
    trends.
  • Efficiency and risk: From an economic point of view, the breakthrough in the widespread use of telemedicine, i.e. the transition form the so-called 'Early Adaptors', has not become mainstream yet. For companies, the involvement in the field of telemedicine and eHealth means a great economic risk. The question remains if it is really worth it to bear this risk.

Further information about the programme of the event can be found here.

Although attendance is free-of-charge, registration is required and can be performed online.
