"Putting Open Standards to Work for Transparency, Security, and Interoperability"
The Workshop is a sequel of the 19 February 2009 event in Brussels, which was organized by OASIS and the Belgian Federal Ministry of Finance.
This one-day Workshop offers an opportunity to exchange experiences amongst professionals from the public administration and the private sector regarding the significance of open standards for efficient and transformational government
Three panels are on the agenda:
- Panel One: Identity, Authentication and Security
- Panel Two:Â Public Financial Management and e-Procurement
- Panel Three:Â Interoperability Frameworks
The workshop will open with a Keynote Session: Open Standards for Government Transformation.
This Workshop is an opportunity to:
- Better understand the role open standards play in public administration and doing business with government
- Exchange views and compare use cases with your peers
- Learn more about the latest technology trends in eGovernment systems
- Assess strategies to avoid vendor lock-in and promote choice
Speakers will include senior government officials from Canada, Ghana, New Zealand, and USA and a range of very experienced business and information technology specialists.
Up to 100 professionals will be brought together onsite at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. In addition, interactive video links will facilitate participation by officials from many emerging markets and developing countries. Representatives of many countries hosting eGovernment projects financed by the World Bank as Mexico, Colombia, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Bosnia, and other countries in central and Eastern Europe will also participate.
