Self-Harm: Recovery, Advice and Support- Helping young people affected by self-harm through partnership work

The seminar is for those interested in partnership working by charities and how to support young people affected by self-harm. Voluntary organisations 42nd Street, Depaul UK and YouthNet, will share their experiences of working together to provide the online service and insights from research undertaken with a variety of young people and professionals as part of the evaluation of the project.

Martyn Lewis CBE will host this event, which will provide the opportunity to explore key issues of concern for young people and discuss ways to support young people who display self-harming behaviour.

Some of the topics to be discussed are, but not limited to, the following:

  • 'TruthHurts': National Inquiry into Self-harm among Young People - the need for better support. Building on the 'Truth Hurts' report Catherine McLoughlin CBE, the Inquiry Chair, will discuss the needs of young people affected by self-harm and the future of support provision.
  • 'Self-Harm: Recovery, Advice and Support'- exploratory and evaluative
research findings. Sarah McCoy, Research Manager at YouthNet will present key findings from research conducted with young people affected by self-harm and health professionals.
  • Partnership work - how a consortium approach to self-harm provision can
provide greater benefits for young people. Fiona Dawe OBE, Chief Executive of YouthNet, will provide insights on partnership working by 42nd Street, Depaul UK and YouthNet to strengthen the support they provide to young people affected by self-harm.
  • Question and Answer session - a chance to ask questions of a panel including Paul Marriott - Chief Executive of Depaul UK, Ian Trafford - Head of Operations at 42nd Street and Claire Easterman - Operations Director at YouthNet.

The event is free and registration can be performed by sending an email to Alicia Hardy including name and contact details.
