Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) 2009 Conference: Transforming the Information Landscape
The conference, Public Sector Information (PSI) in Action, will be of value to all those who have an interest in how public sector information policy is being developed and shaped. Last year's conference was addressed by Javier Hernandez-Ros, the Head of Digital Libraries & Public Sector Information Unit, of the European Commission. Building on the 2008 conference, the focus of this year's event will be how the PSI agenda is delivering benefits on three important fronts:
- Economic activity and the benefits to the information industry.
- Social benefits that flow from removing obstacles to re-use.
- How re-use can transform public service delivery.
It will offer a forum for policy makers, public content providers, re-users and industry leaders and experts to come together to discuss how public bodies can realise and unlock the potential of public sector information.
Some topics for discussion will be:
- Setting out an agenda on public sector information.
- Examining the barriers that can impede effective re-use of PSI.
- Considering the recent report of the Power of Information Taskforce and the Government's response - how will the recommendations affect an organization?
- Understand where innovation and new developments might take an organisation's use of PSI.
- Discussing the critical issues facing PSI practitioners with the expert panel of speakers.
- Networking with peers and counterparts across Government and the wider public sector.
- Exploring the implications of the forthcoming publication of the Shareholder Executive's Trading Fund Assessment.
The conference programme is available here.
Around 100 delegates are expected to attend the conference; registration is open and can be performed online with a payment of a fee.
