Description

Nordic Geographic Information System (GIS) Conference 2009

The Nordic GIS Conference is an event for people with interests in the growing field of Geographic Information (GI) and GI technology. The purpose of the conference is to spread knowledge and serve as a platform for networking within the field. The participants are both private and public producers and users of geographic information. The conference will be held with plenary and parallel sessions, including workshops and round table discussions. There will also be an exhibition and social activities.

The objectives of GI Norden are to develop the general and professional knowledge of geographic information and promote geographic information as a part of the infrastructure of the societies in the Nordic countries. The main activity is the arrangement of an annual GIS conference for professionals, which is rotating between the Nordic countries on a five-year cycle.

Some of the topics that will be presented in the conference include but are not limited to:

  • Norway Digital - an answer to the INSPIRE Directive.
  • Creating Synergy between INSPIRE and e-Government in Denmark.
  • INSPIRE Implementation - Building Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) in Finland.
  • Decision Support Systems for Water Management.
  • Developing Cadastral Cross governmental administration.

Detailed information about the conference programme can be found here.

The conference is expected to host around 250 participants. Registration is open and can be performed online with a payment of a fee.
