Description

ICVP09 – International Conference on Virtual Patients The significance of eLearning in academic curricula is constantly taking on. This trend is particularly noticeable in medicine, where various specialized forms of computer aided learning emerge.

Among them are virtual patients - computer simulations of real-life clinical scenarios for the purpose of education in medicine, nursing or dentistry. Representing logically consistent clinical cases, they offer effective means of facilitating problem-based sessions on various learning stages (pre-clinical, clinical years, CME).

Virtual patients grow in importance due to the decreased time spend by patients in hospitals, time constraints of clinical teachers or difficulties in presenting rare diseases. It is very likely that one day, training on virtual patients will become for medical students as natural as flight simulators are for pilots.

The aim of this conference is to promote the usage of virtual patients in medical curricula. It offers a unique opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics related to creation and application of virtual patients.

The conference is open to participants with considerable experience in the field of virtual patients, as well as for those who just started considering including problem-based learning tools at their schools. Registration can be performed online at the event’s website.
