Description

Symposium GIS 2009 Ostrava – “Seamless Geoinformation Technologies” Seamless Geo-information Technologies are one of the current key goals of the Geo-information society. Existing differences in organisation charts, as well as differences in technological development, created many barriers between particular platforms, solutions, data structures and organisation rules.

Instead of digging special tunnels connecting just two individual systems, brand new technological/organisational approaches can be used to deflate these barriers.

New technological tools allow combining various data sources and SW tools throughout the net regardless of platform, place and time. The leading methods and its implementations can be shared in such heterogeneous systems.

Web services, GeoWeb, Web 2.0, Semantic Web, Open Source, Mobile Geo-information Technologies and Telematics represent fundamental technical solutions for this goal, whereas standardisation and the implementation of the INSPIRE directive are main organisational instruments.

This Symposium offers a platform to present and discuss the current state-of-the-art in such (but not only) technological and organisational Geo-information topics.

The Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, to run from 1 January 2009 to 30 June 2009, has selected as a central priority motto "Europe without Barriers", where the four freedoms (the free movement of goods, services, persons and capital) play central roles.

The present Symposium mirrors these priorities in the Geo-information pool and hopes to contribute for the elimination of constraining barriers.

In order to attend, registration to the Symposium is compulsory and must be performed online. The participation fee is €130. Attendance is free for students of daily studies.
