Inclusive eGovernment - sustainable services for socially excluded people
In the current environment of economic and social stress, the demand for services for socially excluded people is significant, and is putting government finances under ever greater pressure. Because services for disadvantaged groups in society are complex and often expensive, efficiency and effectiveness are central to designing and delivering services that offer sustainable value to socially excluded people. This can mean multi-channel services, but, overall, integration is the key and it requires new ways of approaching the issue, including fresh thinking on business models and a renewed commitment to achieving common social policy goals.
The MC-eGov study was commissioned by DG Information Society of the European Commission and is carried out by ECOTEC Research & Consulting. The study started in January 2008 and will be completed by the end of February 2009. Up to now the deliverables of the study include: organisation of workshops that will bring together stakeholders (the first workshop took place on 22 May in Brussels), developing scenarios to explore inclusive eGovernment and writing working papers, maintaining a list of eGovernment projects and scanning the eGovernment Literature and News.
This workshop constitutes the final dissemination event of the study, using the wealth of case study material to illustrate different facets of Inclusive eGovernment. More specifically it will:
- Present research evidence supporting the validity and significance of Inclusive eGovernment approaches;
- offer a practical framework for understanding inclusive eGovernment, and identifying the components and key steps necessary to move forward;
- use real case study material to illustrate inclusive eGovernment approaches in action;
- promote a “sustainable network value†paradigm.
The event is open to all and free to attend. Additional information about registration may be found here.
