Welcome to the newsletter of the Telemedicine Forum on ePractice.eu!

This month’s newsletter would like to draw your attention to the two parallel sessions, 10 May 2011 that will take place during the European eHealth Week 2011 in Budapest, Hungary.

>> Parallel session 1: European Regions at the forefront of eHealth
The aim of this event will be to showcase the role of the regions in further deploying personal eHealth solutions, with a focus on actions to manage the chronic pathologies that require the most resources in Europe: diabetes, cardio-vascular diseases and obstructive pulmonary diseases. Registration is now open through the workshop announcement page. Registration for this session is free of any charges.

>> Parallel session 2: Developing Ideas for the Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership
The aim of this event will be to gather key stakeholders from industry, policy, research, service providers and users to develop ideas for possible large scale initiatives under the Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership. Registration is now open through the workshop announcement page. Registration for this session is free of any charges.

Speaker Placement:
Proposals of one page summary and 7 presentation slides for the second event may be submitted to events@eurodyn.com by 2 May 2011.

The European Commission's public consultation on the EU's eHealth Action Plan (eHAP) 2012-2020 is now open. All interested stakeholders can take the online questionnaire, which will remain open until 25 May 2011, 16:00 CET as part of the Commission's official public consultation process.

NO: Northern Norway at the forefront of Norwegian regions in eHealth solutions
It has been nearly ten years since General Practitioners in Northern Norway first integrated telemedicine, making it possible to send referrals and receive discharge summaries electronically. Over the next three years, nursing and care services in all municipalities located in the northern region will also communicate electronically in an effective and secure manner with GPs and health authorities.

The results of the country's first telestroke project place Ireland above international standards in stroke treatment, according to a doctor involved in the project in an interview published on 12 April 2011.

US: ATA 2011 - 16th Annual International Meeting and Exposition for Telemedicine: Florida, 1 - 3 May 2011
It is an international meeting and exposition that focuses exclusively on telemedicine, telehealth and remote medical technologies. It aims to gather researchers, clinicians, administrators, technicians, nurses, allied health professionals and entrepreneurs and venture investors, who are interested in the development of telemedicine, from all over the world.

This conference aims to further examine the rapidly evolving field of P4 digital healthcare. The theme of the event will be 'exploring and connecting'. The term 'P4' is being adopted in the life sciences and digital healthcare sectors to describe the changing healthcare landscape as it becomes more Predictive, Preventative, Personalised and Participatory.

Hit Paris, the European healthcare information technologies congress, was launched in 2007 on the initiative of the FHF (French Hospital Federation) in response to the need of Healthcare players for information and training in areas concerning the modernisation and development of information systems.

The conference's motto and program target on building a bridge from research to application of information and communication technology in health care. Submitted and invited scientific presentations and posters as well as workshops and an interoperability showcase will contribute to that.

'HealthCare without Walls: A framework for delivering telehealth at scale' is an independent report designed to inform the future NHS strategy for telehealth.This idea developed from the report of 2020health 'Fixing NHS IT: A plan of action for a new government' in which it was identified that the NHS had yet to exploit telehealth and other related tele-technologies as well.

The eHealth industry is growing fast. Thanks to the new electronic services it provides, healthcare is becoming more efficient. As a result, healthcare professionals and patients can now get quicker and easier access to vital health information.

FR/EU: Study on Telehealth and Telemedicine in Europe
The French Federation of Electrical, Electronics and Communications Industries (FIEEC) and the French National Agency for Shared Health Information Systems (ASIP Santé), as part of their respective duties and the continuity of public policies in favor of the structured and sustainable development of telemedicine in France (law HPST of July 2009 and telemedicine decree of October 2010), guided the completion of a European study on the development of telemedicine and telehealth applications, the major findings of which were presented during a press conference on 29 March 2011.
