Editorial

Welcome to the newsletter of the eHealth Procurers Forum
of ePractice.eu!

This has been a very interesting and active month for the eHealth Procurers Forum as the European eHealth Week took place in Budapest, Hungary on 10-12 May. ePractice hosted two parallel sessions: the European Regions at the forefront of eHealth

and Developing Ideas for the Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership
which were received with great interest from more than 100 attendees from a wide range of top class organisations and governments from throughout Europe. All presentations for both sessions can be found under the respective workshop pages.

Very positive and promising news come from the Czech Republic, as an employee satisfaction survey carried out in Czech hospitals, showed that health professionals have a strong interest in using the latest eHealth tools.

Similar information comes through from the Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS in the UK as major benefits have been reported from a new innovative IT solution, which has significantly improved patient safety, transformed workforce planning and productivity and increased clinical governance.

In Greece, the government has placed under public consultation the call for tender regarding the project Development of the Electronic Prescription System
following a pilot for electronic prescription running since October 2010, and is now being expanded to other Greek insurance funds.

Finally, don't miss out on the multiple interesting events
that take place in the eHealth domain throughout Europe this June!

GL: Transforming healthcare through social media
Social media has moved beyond being a tool for young individuals to share their private lives (pictures, messages) to fostering serious discussion on technology and business. Increasingly driven by regulatory pressures, the need 'get it right the first time' and minimise costs remains a concern in the healthcare industry.
