Technology solution

All the foundations of the General Directorate will merge in the same backbone network via VPN (Virtual Private Network) nodes. All foundations will access Internet and other applications from the internal network of the General Directorate via ADSL routers.

Impact, innovation and results

Economic effects
€500-999,000

Lessons learnt

The project will follow the steps below,

  • General Directorates own network infrastructure will be analysed,
  • Infrastructure of the various foundations is analysed,
  • Internet bandwidth is tested and raised to 50Mbit per second,
  • A Firewall, that is capable to handle 5.000 vpn communications, is placed.

In order to convince people to use this system hand books are send to the foundations.

System is connected to a  digital map. This map shows all the sites if they are connected to the INTERNET. In case of the loss of connection, help desk tries to fix it.
