What new B2G lead generation tactics will you try (or continue with) in 2010? From Linkedin ; Mr Mark Amtower

Have you tried (or are you already trying):

- Webinars or other distance learning tools
- Podcasts and other audio
- Video
- Blogging
- LinkedIn & other social networks
- Other?

And how are these working for you?

Once you have a foothold in an agency, how are you expanding into the agency?

Experimenting with webinars

I've been experimenting delivering webinars, and though I've only delivered two sets so far, the second set had more government attendees than the first set.  But the total number of attendees has been disappointing.

I deliver a one-hour introduction to the OASIS Universal Business Language standard and a one-hour introduction to OASIS genericode and OASIS CVA files for use with code lists, identifier lists and other controlled vocabularies in XML documents.

The next two sets of webinars are scheduled for March 4 and April 1, so I'll see if I can generate more interest between now and then.

I've also tried offering one- and two-day instructor-led hands-on training classes but without much take-up by governmental organizations.  My next two classes are in Copenhagen February 8-10, 2010.  Again, pre-registration has been disappointing, and I will probably have to cancel the classes.

Information on both webinars and courses can be found at:

I'm still undecided about LinkedIn.  I've turned down a number of requests to connect by total strangers.  I've accepted requests to connect from former students, standards colleagues and industry acquaintances I've known over the years, but I think it defeats one of the objectives of LinkedIn to simply accept every connection that is offered.  I think there is an implicit "I know this person" when adding them to your connections.

So I'm unsure of how things will improve in 2010 ... but I'm willing to keep trying.

Happy new year to all!
