The European Commission is interested in creating a community of organisations devoted to the analysis, measurement and spread of good practice in Europe, particularly in the field of eGovernment.
Not being an official initiative but steadfastly fostered by the Commision, the initial objective of the observatories network is to ensure that any organisation involved in these activities is in contact with related partners. The Commission is willing to help these organisations to keep in contact and to administer the network, but giving full freedom to its members to decide what activities to develop
The initiative is part of the new epractice.eu portal, you can find further information at http://www.epractice.eu/index.php?page=fix&p=27.
Currently more than 100 organisations have registered in the network, if your organisation is interested in the measurement and observation of eGovernement or even other fields of the Information Society do not hesitate to fill in the survey [http://ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/ipm/forms/dispatch?form=obsnetwork2] in order to be part of this free and open initiative.
We are also organising a workshop to be held in Brussels in November 6th, agenda and final contents will be soon available, I let you know as they will be ready, in the meantime, I encourage you to register in the Network.

Observatories Network Workshop
The Observatories Network will hold its first workshop in Brussels next 6 of november!
In the framework of ePractice, this meeting intends to be a starting point in the developement of the community and will set the organisation and basics of future activities. It will also be presented the European Map of Observatories, a good approach to know the range of organisations which are measuring eGovernment and ICT impact around Europe.
