eEurope Awards for eHealth - 2003

eHealth 2003: ICT for Health

OBJECTIVE

The contractor for the eEurope Awards, organised – at the request of the European Commission Services and the 2003 Greek Presidency – a competition to select the exhibitors for the "eHealth 2003: ICT for Health" conference and the winners of the eEurope Awards for eHealth – 2003.

The following four themes were covered by the Awards:

  • National and regional eHealth network
  • eHealth systems and services for health professionals
  • Telemedecine and homecare eHealth applications
  • Empowering citizens in the management of health and well-being

Independent experts evaluated the applications and determined the winners of the Awards. The 43 best applications were given the opportunity to exhibit at the conference. European Commissioners Erkki Liikanen and David Byrne, together with Greek Ministers Costas Stefanis and Manolis Stratakis, presented the eEurope Awards for the most outstanding eHealth solutions at the High-Level European eHealth Conference and Exhibition in Brussels, Belgium, on 22-23 May 2003 (see below for winners and honourable mentions).
