Transforming Public Services
OBJECTIVE
The contractor for the eEurope Awards, organised – at the request of the European Commission Services and the 2005 UK Presidency – a competition to select the exhibitors for the "Transforming Public Services" conference and the winners of the eEurope Awards for eGovernment – 2005.
The following four themes were covered by the Awards:

The Right Environment: Creating the best environment to enable government, businesses and citizens to benefit from transformation with eGovernment

Government Readiness: Transformation of the organisation and innovation in the back office

Service Use: Transformation and innovation in external facing services, putting citizens and businesses at the centre, driving use and participation.

Impact: Measuring the impact on and benefits to government, businesses and citizens
Independent experts evaluated the applications and determined the winners of the Awards. The 52 best applications were given the opportunity to exhibit at the conference. European Commissioner Viviane Redding, together with UK Minister Jim Murphy presented the eEurope Awards for the most outstanding eGovernment solutions at the Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2005 and Exhibition in Manchester, the United Kingdom, on 23-24 November 2005 (see below for winners and honourable mentions).
